SPEAKING, PUBLIC DEMONSTRATION, & PRESS
After a violent tragedy, Mariam Paré slowly and painstakingly re-taught herself to paint by holding the brushes in her mouth. Now years later, Mariam continues to inspire people with her amazing artistic ability and message of perseverance.
Over the past 10 years, Mariam has shared her message with audiences all over the world through TV appearances, interviews, news segments, and in print publications. Through sharing her story and strategies for life, her wish is to unshackle people from those similar chains that have, at one point or another, previously held each of us down. Mariam wants to remind you to never give up seeking the unique vision you have inside of you.
In 2005 one of her most memorable events, she spoke in front of an audience of 10,000 in New Orleans for the MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table) Annual International Convention. Mariam has provided inspirational and memorable speaking services for many other groups and companies such as The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Illinois Spinal Cord Injury Group, the Mouth & Foot Painting Artists, Spinalpedia.com, and more.
As a nationally recognized creative talent, Mariam redefines the connotations surrounding the term “disabled artist.” Never wanting to be placated by platitudes from the beginning of her disabled life, she sought out to earn any compliments given to her by possessing authentic talent. Mariam strongly believes in breaking stereotypes, trying to change how society views people with disabilities. She participates in both peer and community disability advocacy, and gives thoughtful presentations on the topics surrounding arts, disability, creativity, and adaptation.
Growing from her love of painting and ability to advocate for change through her own actions, Mariam's demonstrative skills as a mouth painter have also become highly sought-after. Her on-stage painting demonstrations seamlessly become a visual metaphor to the core of her message, encouraging people toward superior levels of performance and inspiring ideas of innovation and creative thinking. Her list of venues include art galleries, expos, conferences, hospitals, rehabilitation institutes, schools, exhibition receptions, and fine art festivals. The responses received have been nothing short of incredible, with standing ovations to prove it. Often she leaves behind her prized artwork as a reminder of her passion for breakthrough thinking. Art is far more than a finished product; Art is a new way to view the world.
Mariam is breaking through the system and not stopping until she creates a new and better life for herself and for others in her situation. Her mix of knowledge and real life experience teach people of all ages how to turn adversity into opportunity and to live the abundant life. Her story will touch the lives of those listening.
